The Host by Stephanie Meyer

Best Blogger Tips
The Host: A NovelThe Host was an excellent book, definitely a new fave. This was also a genre I am not used to reading. It's a science fiction about an alien invasion but it is nothing like you'd expect.

Worm-like aliens have invaded the earth and taken over humans' bodies and minds. For a while Melanie, one of the last survivors, is able to hide from the intruders. But she is captured and implanted with an alien named Wanderer. The transition is not a success. Melanie is able to resist Wanderer (to a degree). Both women end up sharing the same body. They are able to communicate with each other and Wanderer can see Melanie's memories. Wanderer feels the love Melanie has for Jared and becomes infatuated with him as well. They begin a journey to find Jared..

At first the book was a little confusing but a few more pages later you clue into what she was describing. And boy does she have an imagination! Overall it was a creative, fast-paced read with lots of action, suspense, and romance. If you don't like the beginning of the book keep reading because it gets a lot better. The Host is a very interesting and highly recommended read!

I give this book a definite Thumbs Up!

  3. I'm glad your going to give it a try! Where I work I have heard dozens of people say that they liked Twilight but could not grasp the Host. Just remember to keep going. I read it before Twilight which i think gave me an advantage because people that read Twilight first might have expectations that most likely wont be met (it is a very different kind of book, so keep an open mind). please let us know how you liked the book!

  4. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I was a little hesitant at first because I don't normally read science fiction but after the first couple chapters I found that I loved the characters. I loved the way it was written and I wish stephenie would write more. She has a unique way of writing that leaves u wanting more.

  5. racehansen . . . I totally agree with you. And I am surprised that Stephanie Meyer has not written any more books, she could have made millions of more dollars. I think that at the height of the Twilight popularity, she should have released as many new books as she could. People would have purchased them just because she wrote them. I think the Twilight craze is starting to calm down and fans are focused on the movies instead. If she does plan on writing more books, she is already behind.
